Exploring the CSE-AI-ML Department

OVERVIEW

The department of Computer Science and Engineering(Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Tirupati was formed in the year 2020 and provides an outstanding research environment complemented by excellence in teaching. The departmenthas a comprehensive curriculum on topics related to all aspects of Computer Hardware and Software with an emphasis on practical learning. The course structure is up-to-date and includes courses on nascent topics to equip our students with the latest developments in Computer Science and Engineering(Emerging Techonologies). The departmentof Computer Science&Engineering(Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) was started in the year 2020 and offering, UG programme B.Tech(Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) with an annual intake of 60 students in 2020, 180 students in 2021 and at present 300 students from the year 2022. The world of Computer Science is constantly evolving. With the emergence of new technologies in Computer Science, the possibilities for innovation and development in the tech world are endless. From machine learning and artificial intelligence to block chain Technologies and 5G, these emerging technologies are transforming the way we use computers and the internet. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore the latest technologies in Computer Science and how they are changing the world of technology. We will discuss the different types of emerging technologies in Computer Science, their applications, and the future of these technologies. The departmentis committed to building ethical and competent professionals with the support of highly qualified faculty, innovative novel curricula, and state of the art infrastructure. The curriculum includes courses on the latest technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Image Processing, Internet of Things, Natural Language Processing, and Robotic Process Automation, to name a few. Apart from the curriculum, a value-added course, CISCO, is also offered to meet the contemporary market demands. The departmentis conducting the workshops and certifications under Microsoft and IBM. Various activities are conducted in collaboration with professional bodies like CSI, ISTE along with student branches of IEEE and CSI. The programs offered by the department enable students to be recruited by distinguished multinational companies namely Amazon, Cisco, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, Accenture, CTS, Capgemini, TCS & Misplaced Minds that offer students training programmes, internships and placements. The departmenthas received a grant from AICTE under MODROBS and established DELL Server to carry out mini projects, major projects and research works. Seminars, workshops, theme-based projects and hackathons are conducted regularly to keep the students abreast in latest developments in Computer Science& Engineering. Furthermore, the department has been recognized as a research centre by JNTUA, University and two professors have been recognized as research supervisors.

PROGRAM DETAILS

The Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) program in CSE (AI&ML) is a four-year professional undergraduate. Our department boasts a highly qualified team of faculty members with expertise in AI, ML, and related fields. Our well-equipped laboratories and modern infrastructural facilities provide an ideal environment for research and learning. The department has successfully organized various workshops, Hackathon, and seminars in collaboration with industry leaders, ensuring students gain practical insights and exposure to the latest advancements in AI, ML, and associated domains.

The department is equipped with state-of-the-art labs and resources to support hands-on learning and research:
  • AI & ML Lab: A fully-equipped lab with high-performance computing facilities and AI/ML software, enabling students and faculty to run complex models and simulations.
  • Data Science Lab: Dedicated to big data analytics, statistical modeling, and visualization techniques for solving real-world problems.
  • Robotics Lab: Focused on robotics, autonomous systems, and their integration with AI for intelligent decision-making.
  • Cloud Computing & IoT Lab: Providing the infrastructure for studying the intersection of cloud computing, AI, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices

    3. Data Science Club: Provides hands-on training on data analytics, data visualization, and predictive modeling.

    HEAD OF DEPARTMENT

    Dr. R. Swathi, Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE), Tirupati, holds a Ph.D. in Machine Learning and Big Data from Sri Venkateswara University (SVU). She completed her M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Ananthapuramu, and her B.Tech from JNTUH in 2006. With over 16 years of academic experience, Dr. R Swathi has expertise in a wide range of computer science subjects, including Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Python, C, C++, FLAT, Data Structures, and Compiler Design. She has significantly contributed to the academic community, with 21 publications, including three patents, and has presented her research at several prestigious international IEEE conferences. Her research is indexed in leading academic databases such as Scopus and SCIE. She actively mentors students, ensuring they receive the guidance and support needed to achieve their career goals, including through the Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) at SVCE, where she serves as the Faculty Advisor. Her certifications in Machine Learning, Big Data, IoT, Data Science, and Deep Learning through NPTEL and Udemy further enhance her ability to guide both students and faculty in staying at the forefront of technological advancements.

    The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering is a hub of academic and research excellence. It boasts six faculty members with Ph.D. qualifications, Dr. R. Swathi serve as research guides under Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA), each mentoring research scholars. The faculty are actively involved in funded research projects, have authored multiple books, and consistently present their work at prestigious Scopus-indexed international and national conferences. The department places a strong emphasis on e-learning and professional development through active participation in Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), webinars, and online courses. Moreover, faculty members guide students in exploring cutting-edge research topics for their major and mini projects, fostering an environment of innovation and growth.
